The Victorian school teacher who delighted the judges with her tasty macarons has left the competition to recover from brain surgery she recently had following a skiing accident.
“As you know, Cecilia is recovering from a brain injury. We received expert medical advice instructing us that it is not in her best interest to continue in the competition,” Gary Mehigan told the rest of the competitors during last night’s show.

“Cecilia is a brilliant cook and we all hope we see her next year in this competition.”
Vuong’s departure from the show meant a new space was up for grabs for one lucky contestant who’d be given a second chance, and that was offered to 18-year-old Georgia Hughes from South Australia.
“In the pressure test yesterday, there was one contestant who really impressed us, and we felt it was only right to give her the 24th place, so please welcome back Georgia,” said Matt Preston.

Byron Finnerty
Byron Finnerty may have felt like his chances in the competition were crumbling when he broke the delicate dessert before any of the other contestants could even taste it, but the recent bachelor, who left his girlfriend in the U.S. to pursue his cooking dreams, is one to watch.
Nick Doyle
A law student from New South Wales, Nick Doyle says he’d much rather stay home and cook than hit the town drinking with friends. The 22-year-old says he knows all about the hard work it takes to go far in the competition, too; he lost 50 kilograms just last year. “You need to be determined, and you need to be strong,” Nick says. “You can succeed if you work hard.”
