A movie critic has just said some horribly sexist things about Amy Schumer‘s appearance, but she is in no way, shape or form letting the haters get her down.
The Trainwreck star got a taste of how disgusting the biz can be when a critic for Hollywood Elsewhere decided her character was not believable because she is, according to him, not attractive enough to lead a romantic comedy.

“She’s obviously sharp and clever and funny as far as the woe-is-me, self-deprecating thing goes, but there’s no way she’d be an object of heated romantic interest in the real world,” Jeffrey Wells wrote.
“Schumer’s wide facial features reminded me of a blonde Lou Costello around the time of Buck Privates, or Jennifer Aniston’s somewhat heavier, not-as-lucky sister who watches a lot of TV. Don’t look at me — I’m not the one who made her the star of a film about a plucky, free-spirited girl that a lot of guys want to bang. You know who would be better in a film like this? An actress who’s nicely attractive, has the funnies and the soulful stuff besides? Jenny Slate.”
Rather than letting Wells’ abominably sexist comments slide, Schumer stood up for women everywhere with the most perfect response ever.

The actress later told USA Today that she knows the writer is nothing but a troll and she doesn’t let stuff like that faze her.
“I didn’t read the thing,” she said. “It was such an example of sort of the reason for trolling. It seems like a rewarding experience for people who do that stuff. From the bottom of my heart — I could not care less.”
