Madonna’s fall at the Brit awards was more serious than everyone thought

By now most of the world already knows that Madonna suffered from possibly the worst wardrobe malfunction ever at the 2015 Brit Awards, but it turns out that her accident was actually more serious than we originally thought.

During Madonna’s performance of “Living for Love” on Wednesday, she fell down several stairs after her long cape was pulled by a backup dancer. She may have carried on like the pro that she is, and even reassured her fans via Instagram on Wednesday evening that she was “fine,” but it turns out that everything was not fine.

During an interview with The Jonathan Ross Show — which, according to People magazine, will air next month — the queen of pop revealed she actually hurt her head pretty badly.

“I didn’t hurt my butt, I hurt my head,” she confessed.

Madonna continued, “I know how to fall. I’ve fallen off my horse many times, and I tucked, and I have good core strength… but the thing is, I had a little bit of a whiplash, and I smacked the back of my head. So, there was a man standing over me with a flashlight until about 3 a.m. making sure that I was still compos mentis.”

And it was not just her head that was wounded during the performance, but also her ego. Madonna makes a point of delivering flawless performances, so she was understandably upset by the incident.

“It was a horrible nightmare, because I like to be amazing,” she said. “Seriously, I rehearse and I rehearse and I rehearse, so that when I do the show it’s effortless and I create magic, and I did the opposite. I actually created a horror show for everyone.”

We’re pretty sure Madonna will never wear a cape again after that performance, but we are happy to know that she is OK now. And hey, maybe some people didn’t even notice that she had an unplanned tumble since the lyrics to her hit track do include the words “watched me stumble.”
