Adam Levine, seriously, could you get any more amazing?
Levine and his bandmates just won coolest and most amazing people of the year from me and at least one superfan.
Ten-year-old Christopher Warner is the band’s self-proclaimed No. 1 fan. He loves everything about Maroon 5 and is especially fascinated with The Voice star. Warner was born with Down syndrome, and he gained some local popularity when Avery Stanert, a special-needs teacher at his school, decided to post a video of him on YouTube, which showed just how much he loves the band.
When the video was picked up by a local radio station, they worked it out to get Warner tickets and backstage passes to a Maroon 5 concert. Stanert, Warner’s mother and several other teachers received VIP access that gave them a chance to meet the band’s members face to face.

Now here is where the story takes a turn from cute to super cosmically, unbeatably fantastic.
When finally faced with meeting his longtime idol, Christopher got overwhelmed, panicked and crouched down on the floor, trying to hide.
A million things could have happened next. But what did will forever place Maroon 5 in the annuls of perfect-response-to-a-child-with-special-needs history.
Levine, unfazed, suggested everyone follow suit and lie down right beside him.
Christopher was so overwhelmed he had a panic attack so @adamlevine@maroon5@internjohnradio laid down to take a pic pic.twitter.com/lGP5SIeZNX

The photo is the most heartwarming thing I’ve ever seen in a long time.

Some people might not know how to respond or may not be sure what is “right” or “wrong” to do with some people with special needs. Some might tiptoe around or just plain get uncomfortable. And it’s not like we’ve never known a celebrity to be too good to deal with other people’s “problems.” But this just flat out restores my faith in humanity.
The ease with which Levine responded and the level of comfort with which he handled the situation, which could have been super-uncomfortable for the young fan, ended instead in a touching display of understanding I could only hope to come up with myself if I were ever put in such a position.
Heart: exploded.
Check out the video Stanert created that started it all.
