James Corden may have been a relative unknown in the United States before being chosen to host the Late Late Show, but now that he’s made his big debut, the internet is abuzz over him as the delightful new presence on late-night TV.
Corden’s first night as Craig Ferguson’s replacement proved to be wildly entertaining, and Twitter has dubbed it a success. While we don’t always hold the same opinion as Twitter users, we’re going to have to go ahead and agree with them on this one.
Here are some of the things people are raving about from Monday’s show, and evidence to back up the claims of Corden’s greatness.

1. He’s humble

While introducing himself, Corden talked sweetly about his family (mom’s impending boob job and all), thanked his new bandleader, Reggie Watts, and seemed very genuine while expressing his appreciation for being picked to host the show. He also managed to say confident yet unpretentious through the remainder of the taping.
2. He held his own next to Tom Hanks

Being that Hanks is one of the most beloved actors of his time, accompanying him through a journey of all his most famous roles in eight minutes had to be at least a little bit intimidating. Corden hilariously whizzed through the bit and even gave Jimmy Kimmel, who is known for working the stage like a madman, a run for his money in the cardio endurance department.
3. He’s got potential
The Late Late Show with James Corden started last night. I will still miss Craig Ferguson, but this new era shows potential. #LateLateShow

While it’s common knowledge that most late-night fans are still mourning the loss of Ferguson’s exit from the show, many Twitter users agreed they found some consolation in the fact that Corden seems to be the right person to fill Ferguson’s shoes. Judging by the star-studded skit explaining how he got chosen as host, Twitter users aren’t the only ones who are confident in Corden. I mean, he’s even got Meryl Streep’s blessing, for crying out loud.

4. He already scored a major scoop
Did James Corden just decide, and then announce to the world, that Mila Kunis got married? First episode and he already uncovers the truth

Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher are known for keeping things private, but somehow Corden pretty much got Kunis to admit that she and Kutcher already tied the knot. The words on her lips might have been “maybe,” but the look in her eye screamed, “Yes, I’m married.” Kunis must have felt comfortable with Corden to even allude to the fact that she had a secret wedding.
5. He’s got a voice

To end the night, Corden bid adieu to his audience by singing an enchanting little ditty. What more could you ask for after a wonderful evening with Tom Hanks and Mila Kunis?
6. That laugh

While some Twitter users found Corden’s laugh to be like nails on a chalkboard, most found it amazing, and we’re reminded of the cackle of another British treasure, Ricky Gervais. The similarity is uncanny. Check it out:
