Serena Williams takes girl power to new level in her version of ‘7/11’ (VIDEO)

Serena Williams has got moves!

While the tennis star wasn’t pleased with the attention that came with being asked to twirl during an interview in January, she apparently has no problem shaking her stuff to showcase her strength. Williams recently shot her very own version of Beyoncé’s “7/11” and the effort is so filled with girl power, we might dare say we prefer it over the original Queen Bey video.

Instead of smacking her hands in the air wearing a kale sweatshirt, like Beyoncé, Williams dons her signature brightly colored tennis dresses and is smacking the heck out of some tennis balls. Other highlights include Williams showcasing her strength through handstands, dancing in the bathroom and hallway, and showing off some impressive golf cart maneuvering with her adorable Yorkie riding shotgun.

The video was produced by Vogue magazine, in which Williams will be featured in April. The tennis legend was also photographed by photography icon, Annie Leibovitz, and shared some of the pics on Instagram this week.

Williams is seen pirouetting several times in her “7/11” video, perhaps in a sly nod to the internet controversy that went down after she was asked by the interviewer to twirl. “A commentator asked me to twirl. I wouldn’t ask Rafa [Nadal] or Roger [Federer] to twirl,” Williams said to the Guardian. “Whether it’s sexist or not, I don’t know.” Twitter blew up in disgust over the incident, but Williams didn’t seem to be sweating it. “I didn’t really want to twirl because I was just like, you know, I don’t need all the extra attention. But, yeah, it was fine,” Williams continued in the Guardian interview. “I don’t think and look that deep into it. Life is far too short to focus on that. We have so many other problems we want to deal with that we should focus on. Whether I twirl or not, it’s not the end of the world. It’s about being positive and just moving forward.”
