The View may replace Rosie O’Donnell with one of these gay stars

Now that Rosie O’Donnell is done with The View, producers are scrambling to find another cohost to fill her seat — and rumor has it they have their eyes on one of these two stars, both of whom just happen to be gay.

Insiders say that The View team is actively looking for O’Donnell’s replacement to join the other hosts in the fall and that two names in particular are being batted around.

They really like Raven-Symoné, and [comedian] Mario Cantone could get a recurring contract,” a source told RadarOnline. “They will have a more in-depth selection process than last time. The panel that debuts in the fall will be the panel for the year.”

But the source added that despite the vacancy, the air is much calmer now that O’Donnell has jumped ship.

“Ever since Rosie left, the cast is all at peace,” the insider explained. “Everyone really realizes the show isn’t doing that well, but at least there’s peace behind the scenes now.

“Whoopi is the one relaxing more,” continued the source, but not everyone is all sunshine and light. “[Rosie Perez] has actually gotten more guarded and cranky because she thinks certain people were leaking information on set before. She was nice when she first came on, but now she’s become bitchier, which is so unlike her.”

While Symoné, who just spent a controversial week guest-hosting the show, hasn’t outright commented on whether or not she has thrown her name in the ring, she did post this pic to Instagram today — is it a hint?

Cantone, who makes frequent guest appearances on the show, hedged when asked outright by Page 6 if he was going to replace O’Donnell or Rosie Perez, who is rumored to be leaving in the fall, on a full-time basis. “I do a lot of different things for them, and I have a great relationship with them. A full-time job? I don’t know,” he said. “I don’t know what they’re gonna do… they don’t tell anybody anything. I go in and just have a great time. I’ve been through every cast, and I love them.”
