Poor Bruce Jenner! Everyone’s favorite dad and stepdad continues to have a really tough time adjusting to his new life. On this week’s episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, it gets even harder.

Bruce and Kris Jenner may be divorced, but they’ve stayed good friends. Not only does Bruce continue to appear on KUWTK, he even continues look out for his ex-wife. As a matter of fact, in the upcoming episode, it’s Bruce, not Kris’ daughters, who accompanies her to a medical facility for a procedure.
In the new clip, Kris’ latest decision brings Bruce to public tears when she tells him that he’s no longer in charge of her medical care. While preparing for a standard procedure, the nurse asks Kris about her living will and her recent changes leave Bruce visibly upset. A living will gives one person the right to make care decisions for someone should they become incapacitated (i.e. they decide when to “pull the plug”). As Kris’ husband, that duty has always fallen to Bruce. Which, of course, he accepted lovingly. Just before the procedure, though, Kris spoke with their lawyer and had her living will updated. Kourtney is now in charge of making that decision.

The change not only annoyed Bruce but seemed to break his heart. And, while it completely makes sense not to have your ex-husband be in charge of your health, Bruce made a valid point, too. “The problem I have with all of this,” Bruce said, “Kourtney with the final say? What, I’m not here? I’m the only one here. She’s not here.” Kris’ girls are busy but Bruce remains reliably by his ex-wife’s side.
It’s hard to imagine he wouldn’t continue to be there, even after his transition is complete. 24 years of marriage is a long time to just ignore, and that bond is impossible to erase. Kris may be quickly adjusting to things, but it seems Bruce is still trying to find a place in her life after their new arrangement.
