Jamie Foxx’s transphobic Bruce Jenner joke is really not cool

It is unbelievable that someone either wrote off on or OK’ed these jokes.

It is even more unbelievable that people probably listened to them numerous times during sound checks, practices and all sorts of pre-show run-throughs and no one had the thought that maybe they should let someone know that Jamie Foxx‘s jokes about Bruce Jenner‘s alleged transition are so not cool, let alone even remotely funny.

During the opening bit of the iHeartRadio Awards, Foxx, who played host to the star-studded evening event, said, “We have some groundbreaking performances here, too, tonight. We got Bruce Jenner, [who] will be here doing some musical performances. He’s doing a his-and-her duet all by himself.”

I think people laughed a little out of disbelief, and the camera cut fittingly to the role model for bad behavior himself, Chris Brown, just an interesting observation in my opinion. But Foxx didn’t stop there. He went from bad taste to just downright despicable with his next joke, saying, “Look, I’m just busting your balls… while I still can.”

It is incredibly insensitive to joke about anyone who is going through a time in their life such as a transition, but to joke about someone’s transition that hasn’t even been confirmed is just plain mean.

The backlash came almost immediately, with the Twittersphere jumping to defend Jenner and lambast Foxx.

It appears, based on a few photos posted online, that Jenner’s daughter Kylie was supposed to be in the audience with newly confirmed BF Tyga, but she might not have made it to the show. Let’s hope she really didn’t make it because how terrible would it have felt to sit in an auditorium full of people who had just heard a terrible joke like that about your own father.

It is nice the crowd didn’t respond too heartily to these trashy one-liners the same way they did the actor’s previous jokes.
