Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig release really suspicious statement

After news of their secret collaboration on a Lifetime original movie leaked online, Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig made a big announcement about the film.

We are deeply disappointed that our planned top secret project was made public,” they wrote “Kristen and I have decided it is in the best interest for everyone to forego the project entirely, and we thank Lifetime and all the people who were ready to help us make this film.”

The two-hour film, titled A Deadly Adoption, was slated to air this summer and it sounded awesome. It was meant to be a loose parody of the over-the-top dramatic movies Lifetime has always featured, starring Ferrell and Wiig as an obscenely rich couple who take in a pregnant woman in the hope of adopting her baby. The internet seemed torn between thinking the film was an April Fools’ Day joke and being righteously disappointed that such a fun-sounding project had been scrapped.

Here’s the thing, though: We don’t buy a single word of that statement.

Doesn’t it sound just like Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig to make a big announcement saying they’ve dropped a joint project just to throw people off the trail? We wouldn’t be surprised at all if they made that announcement just to get everyone disappointed, all the while planning to surprise us by dropping the movie on the Lifetime network this summer, just as planned.

Here’s hoping we didn’t foil their plan and ruin chances of that actually happening.

And if the statement is true, we’re super disappointed in Ferrell and Wiig. Those two are some of the funniest actors around and the world deserves their collaborative Lifetime movie. Plus, the rumors say the film was already completely shot, so if they’re dropping it now, they’re wasting a ton of money, time and work, and that’s just not cool.
