Duck Dynasty‘s Willie Robertson sparks outrage for officiating adulterer’s wedding

by

Jason Aldean might have been thrilled to wed his former mistress Brittany Kerr, but fans are very unimpressed that Duck Dynasty‘s Willie Robertson chose to officiate the ceremony.

The “Dirt Road Anthem” hit maker and Kerr headed to the romantic seaside destination of Playa del Carmen, Mexico, to exchange vows on Saturday, March 21, and Robertson had the honor of marrying them. Robertson and Aldean go way back and share a zeal for hunting, and Aldean is also a part of the Buck Commander Crew.

The problem? In 2012, Aldean cheated on his then-wife with Kerr, and adultery is something that is deemed very wrong in Robertson’s faith (and the rest of society). Robertson and his family are very outspoken when it comes to their strict religious views and their opposition to homosexuals, and a slew of other things. However, he appears to have looked the other way when it comes to his friend’s indiscretions.

People have branded Robertson a hypocrite and as someone who is just “conveniently religious,” which is clearly evident in the comments section of ABC News’ article, “Duck Dynasty’s Willie Robertson Officiated Jason Aldean’s Wedding.

One angry fan wrote, “Exactly why I have a problem with religion and outspoken religious people like Willie Robertson. He is very vocal on his opposition to gays, gay marriage, the homosexual lifestyle, etc. as well as a whole host of other things. YET he sees NO conflict with officiating at Jason Aledean’s [sic] 2nd marriage after Jason divorced his 1st wife and admittedly acted ‘inappropriately’ while still married to his 1st wife with his now wife Brittany Kerr.”

Another comment simply said Robertson is a “‘Lightswitch Christian.’ [sic] Turning it on and off when convenient.”

Other people hope this is the final nail in the coffin of the hit A&E television show Duck Dynasty. One fan wrote, “I agree. This will come back to bite them. Think Duck Dynasty is on it last legs and hopefully Aldeans [sic] career will b over too.”
