The BAFTA TV Award nominations for 2015 have been announced and it looks like a certain Mr. Cowell may give the ceremony a miss this year — neither the X Factor nor Britain’s Got Talent are in the running.
There’s been much talk of an X Factor “shake up” this year, with the news long-running and much-loved host Dermot O’Leary was leaving the first big change to be made public. It looks like it’s the right time to revamp the show if the BAFTA TV nominations are anything to go by.
Cowell’s music talent show — as well as his variety show Britain’s Got Talent — are both missing from this year’s nominations list, whereas the shows’ closest rivals Strictly Come Dancing and The Voice are both up for the Entertainment Programme Award. Strictly is also nominated for the Radio Times Audience Award, which is voted for by the public.
More: Who could possibly replace Dermot O’Leary on the X Factor?
Also up for a gong this year is Benedict Cumberbatch for Sherlock. He faces competition for the Leading Actor Award from Toby Jones for Marvellous, James Nesbitt for The Missing and Jason Watkins for The Lost Honour Of Christopher Jefferies.
Battling it out in the Leading Actress Category are Georgina Campbell for Murdered By My Boyfriend, Keeley Hawes for Line of Duty, Sarah Lancashire for Happy Valley and Sheridan Smith for Cilla.
