Sofía Vergara says her curves kept her from playing a specific type of role

Sofía Vergara recognizes that she’s got some bangin’ curves, but she isn’t bragging about it.

In fact, she sees her ideal looks as a bit of a problem, especially when it comes to acting.

During an interview with The Sun, Vergara explained, “I realized that having a good figure was an advantage on TV and getting attention and publicity. But it also means you can’t play more normal kinds of roles.”

She continued, “I can’t just play an ordinary girl. So I try to find roles which will let me capitalize on my looks and my personality and advance my career that way.”

She also joked in the May issue of Vanity Fair that she wished her boobs were fake because buying bras was always a pain. “I found places like Frederick’s of Hollywood that make bras for [strippers].”

Vergara even went on to say in her interview with The Sun that she doesn’t always enjoy the attention her body brings her. She believes the unwanted advances are what caused her to rush into her first marriage with Joe Gonzalez at the age of only 18.

“When I was a teenager I was skinny but with big boobs. It was a relief for me when I met my [first] husband and then I didn’t have to deal with being chased as much.”

Though that marriage ultimately didn’t work out — the two divorced in 1993 — Vergara seems to have finally found her prince in Magic Mike hunk, Joe Manganiello. And while the happy couple is planning a wedding, they have had to delay the ceremony more than they’d like.

“We wanted to get married this summer,” the actress previously said, according to Us Weekly, “but Joe will be busy working and promoting Magic Mike 2.”

Vergara is also busy promoting her new movie, Hot Pursuit, “so we’re trying to do it maybe [this] fall.”
