Many people were expecting Giuliana Rancic to resign from Fashion Police after her comments about Zendaya’s dreads were deemed racist, but she says she’s staying put.
While some felt that Fashion Police‘s time had passed, Rancic confirms the show will be back — and so will she.
“I think more than ever, [Fashion Police] is definitely coming back, because [the controversy] shows that a lot of people were watching the show and enjoyed the show. So yeah, it’s coming back in September, in time for the Emmys,” she told Access Hollywood Live.
“I will be on the show, Brad Goreski will be on the show, and now they just have to fill the other seats.”
The “other seats” in question used to be held by Kelly Osbourne and Kathy Griffin, both of whom quit in the wake of the Great Zendaya Hair Scandal of 2015. Griffin had taken the place of the late, great Joan Rivers.
There is no love lost between Rancic and Osbourne, certainly. After Rancic told the Today show that her comments about Zendaya’s hair were just poorly edited, Osbourne posted a tweet basically calling her a liar. When Griffin quit, she laid into the show, saying she refused to be a part of something that tears down women instead of gently mocking in a funny way.
But it pretty much sounds like Rancic DGAF. “I haven’t [been in touch] with them at all,” she told Today. “I can’t speak for them, what they meant by those comments. Nothing good can come from trying to speak for them.”
