Michael Bublé has an amazing voice and a slew of awards under his belt, but he may not be winning any popularity contests anytime soon, thanks to one of his Instagram pics.

The “Feeling Good” hit maker took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a picture of himself in what appears to be a hotel lobby, and standing behind him is a woman wearing tiny black shorts with some of her bottom sticking out.
Bublé captioned the picture, “There was something about this photo Lu took ,that seemed worthy of instagram.” Followed by several hashtags, “#myhumps #babygotback #hungryshorts #beautifulbum.”
While Bublé did use the hashtag “beautifulbum,” which may seem as though he is trying to be complimentary about the woman, he also chose to tag it with “hungryshorts,” which does not seem very flattering at all — and there are many people who have taken to Instagram to blast the singer for his actions.

“YOU ARE SUCH A PIECE OF SHIT HAHAHAHA,” one critic wrote, and another shared similar sentiments, writing, “What a f***ing creep.”
Another user wrote, “Taking a photo and posting it on instagram is not a damn compliment to her body. It is saying that is all she is. They are in Miami, she might actaully [sic] be about to go to the beach. I expected you to have more respect towards people. Seriously disappointed in you.”
It’s also important to remember that this woman never gave consent for her bottom to be photographed and plastered all over social media. And is it ever OK to do this? One critic of the picture brought up this point, writing, “Of course 95% of the men here think this is okay because the chances of a photo like this taken of them without their consent is slim to none. if it doesn’t affect or bother their gender it doesn’t matter basically. JUST REMEMBER.”

But not everyone is upset with the pic and some people find it pretty funny, with comments including, “He’s not ‘shaming’ anybody… Quit over reacting. Plus… She does have a nice bum,” and, “You better not cave in and delete this pic it’s hilarious and people need to stop being so sensitive and remove stick from their asses. Also, I’m so sick of the word ‘shame’. Who ever started the words skinny shaming, fat shaming body shaming etc is annoying as f*** lol!”
UPDATE, April 17: Following all the controversy, Bublé released a statement to E! News apologizing to anyone who was offended by the photo.
“Anybody who knows me would never misinterpret the message of the photo my wife took in Miami that seems to have caused unexpected rage by some people. I do not court controversy,” the singer explained.
“But I realize that a photo that was meant to be complimentary and lighthearted has turned into a questionable issue,” Bublé continued. “For the record, it hurts me deeply that anyone would think that I would disrespect women or be insulting to any human being. I was not brought up that way and it is not in my character.”
Bublé ended the statement by saying, “Women are to be celebrated, loved, respected, honored and revered. I’ve spent my life believing that and will continue to do so.”
