Elton John explains why Bruce Jenner is transitioning so late in life (VIDEO)

Elton John just gave us all some good food for thought about why Bruce Jenner might be making his transition so late in life.

In a recent interview with Access Hollywood, Elton John said that “it’s an incredibly brave thing to do, especially when you’re older.”

Continuing, “I admire him for doing it and I support him 100 percent.”

David Furnish, John’s husband chimed in, importantly, “People should support him.”

Yes they should.

But it was John who explained, so poignant and clearly, why Jenner might be making this giant leap so late in life. He explained, “I think transitioning for some people is the same as divorcing because it’s like, ‘We’ll keep it together for the sake of others even though everybody is miserable.’ And then it’s like, ‘OK, finally we can care about ourselves more than we care about others.’ And they give themselves permission to transition.”

What a great way to think about it that some people who might be questioning Jenner’s late-in-life transition might not have thought about before.

People magazine got another great thought from professor of Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of Southern California saying that “the decision to transition later in life has to do with overcoming the feeling of being a caretaker or parent.”

That might certainly be the boat Jenner, a father of six biological Jenner children and stepfather to the four Kardashians, has been in for a long time.

Jenner is expected to and hopefully does make some big revelations and will also hopefully clear up a lot of the rumors and speculation, which have been flying around in recent weeks about his transition and many other life decisions during his Diane Sawyer interview tonight on ABC.
