Dancing with the Stars might be helping Amanda Bynes in her recovery

Troubled former child star Amanda Bynes has been lying low for the last several months, but she could be gearing up for a comeback at the hands of one major TV show.

The actress, who has been in and out of rehab, legal trouble and treatment for mental illness multiple times over the past several years, is rumored to be in talks with Dancing with the Stars for a place next season.

“They think Amanda has a wonderful underdog story and DWTS is the perfect forum for her to prove she can entertain while being vulnerable the same time,” a source told OK! magazine.

“It’s perfect timing,” the source dished. “People think she’s still a mess, but that’s no longer the case. DWTS is the perfect opportunity for her to prove to her friends, family and fans that she’s back in control of her life.”

So is it true? A production source told Gossip Cop, “She is not currently in negotiations.” But even if she was, they certainly wouldn’t admit it this early.

Posts on Bynes’ so-called secret Twitter account (which may or may not actually be hers) look like a definite no, though — even if she were in negotiations, these tweets would certainly put the kibosh on it pretty quickly.

Guess we’ll have to wait and see if she actually appears when next year rolls around.
