What are the Pretty Little Liars without each other? We never wanted to know, but we’re about to find out.
Lucy Hale, who plays Aria in the show, dropped the bombshell that the Liars will be parting ways in Season 6.

It was revealed back in March that the show would be flashing forward four years at some point during the season. And, it turns out, that when that flash-forward happens, the Liars won’t be together anymore.
“For the first time, we get to venture out of high school, we get to grow up a little bit,” Hale explained to People. “We haven’t shot these episodes yet, but we’re doing hopefully a significant time jump. So just to see if the girls are dealing with the same issues, if A is still around, how much they’ve grown up.”
Now, keep in mind the show has been renewed for Season 7, so we can’t imagine that the flash-forward will give us an A-free life. That just seems like too much to hope for after the show has been running us around in circles for five seasons. (I mean, come on, who the heck is Charles?!)

But the girls might just be dealing with A on their own, and that’s something we can’t imagine. A world where Aria, Hanna, Spencer and Emily aren’t hooked at the hip just doesn’t sound like a place we want to be, but that’s just where Hale says the show is headed.
“From my knowledge, they’re going to go their own separate ways for a bit,” she revealed.
Say it ain’t so!
The key phrase there seems to be “for a bit,” meaning that the separation likely isn’t permanent. (Fingers crossed!)

It’s also unclear whether this flash-forward will be a permanent time jump or if it will just be a glimpse, perhaps, of their post-A lives, though executive producer, Joseph Dougherty, did describe the flash-forward as a “reboot” of the show.
“We always knew that we were going to reach a point where we finish the story and then we’re going to catch our breath and take this opportunity to move forward — literally,” Dougherty told MTV when the news of the flash-forward first broke.
With a show built on these four girls and their ever-evolving friendship, it’s hard to imagine what that move forward will look like if they aren’t doing it together.
