There’s a new trend emerging dubbed “dad bods,” and some of the examples include Jason Segel and Leonardo DiCaprio — and this is one trend that The Daily Show host Jon Stewart is really impressed with.

But senior women’s issues correspondent Kristen Schaal doesn’t share Stewart’s joy.
“What a great day for men!” exclaimed Schaal in the beginning of her comedy segment. “It’s time society finally accepted that a man’s body changes when he has kids. He spent nine months eating too much because his pregnant wife is stressing him out, and then there’s a screamy baby at home, so he’s got to get out for pizza and beer as much as he can! It’s just biology, Jon.”
Stewart then makes the point that a lot of the guys that were mentioned in the clip about “dad bods” were not even dads.

“You don’t have to be a dad to have a dad bod, you just have to be lazy,” Schaal retorts. “And women are lining up at the dad bod buffet, which is great news, because now you don’t have to worry about magazines like this [Fitness RX] shoving an impossible body image down your throat.”
While Schaal’s skit is brilliant and hilarious, it also highlights the double standards that still exist in society and how women feel so much pressure to be skinny. But Stewart notes that this has not always been the case, and that voluptuous women were celebrated and portrayed in paintings in previous centuries.

“Picasso? Ugh, talk about impossible body standards. I spent years trying to get my nose on the side of my face!” Schaal replies. “Admit it, Jon — women will never be able to relax about their bodies the way that men can.”
It’s a hilarious segment, with a very strong message behind it. For more, watch the video below.
