Nastia Liukin reveals her biggest DWTS regret

Dancing with the Stars fans were shocked when Nastia Liukin’s journey on the hit ABC dancing show came to an end during the semifinals on May 12.

However, Liukin is not upset about not walking away with the mirror ball trophy, and her comments about her journey on the show will only make you love her more.

“As a gymnast and a competitor, I’m used to competition and not coming out on top, and that’s OK! That’s not what I’m upset about,” she told Us Weekly.

Although, she does have one small regret.

“Of course I would have loved to dance in the finale, but this has nothing to do with that. I wish I had the chance to tell my story the way that everyone else had to tell theirs.”

But even if she regrets not being able to tell her story, she did get the opportunity to show America who she really is — and that’s what she really wanted.

“I feel like I’ve been criticized for so many years as being this stone-faced, cold athlete, but as a gymnast, you don’t talk or show emotion. You go out there to compete,” Liukin told the mag. “So it was really important for me to open up to America and show them who the real me is. I want people to know that I am not perfect.”

Now that her time on DWTS is over, what’s in store for the athlete in the future?

Liukin revealed to Us Weekly that she’s planning on starting her own agency, the Shine Agency. And she’ll be going in to it with her best friend, Liz Ballard.

So, what made her want to start an agency? It’s Liukin’s own personal experiences with agencies and how they didn’t “really reflected me as a person, [or present] opportunities that I could be passionate about.”

She continued, “So we have joined forces and hope to represent people that we really believe have stories to tell and brands to build.”
