Thanks to Miley Cyrus, a Netflix comedy was renewed for Season 2

Behold the power of a Miley Cyrus tweet. The pop star’s Memorial Day weekend Grace and Frankie binge may be partly responsible for Netflix renewing the show for a second season.

Attention fans of low-rated TV shows, if you want to make sure your fave stays on the air, make sure Miley Cyrus is watching it. The pop princess tweeted about her Memorial Day Weekend binge-watch of Netflix’s new Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin-led comedy Grace and Frankie, and just a few days later series co-creator Marta Kauffman got a call from Netflix confirming Season 2 was a go. Coincidence or does Grace and Frankie have the power of a Cyrus endorsement to thank for its second season?

In an interview with Vulture, Kauffman said, “Let me say, it’s so awesome to do a show on Netflix. Because two and a half weeks after we launched, Miley Cyrus does a tweet about your show, and they call and say, ‘We’d like to do a season two.’ So yes, there is a season two. We have (head of content acquisition for Netflix) Ted (Sarandos) and Miley to thank.”

Too bad Cyrus couldn’t have sent a little Twitter love Selfie‘s way before ABC dropped the ax on the critical darling earlier this season. Ooh, or is it too late for Cyrus to tweet about how much she loves Firefly? Keep using your powers for good, Cyrus. TV fans will love you for it.
