During a recent interview with Marie Clare UK, Clarke, who is the magazine’s July cover girl, revealed the terrible things that she read about herself on the web.
“I remember when everything first kicked off, I Googled myself. You just do; it’s instinct,” the star, who plays beloved character Daenerys Targaryen on GoT, told the magazine. “But never again. It just takes that one person who says, ‘She’s a fat bitch,’ and you’re like, ‘I’m a fat bitch!'”

No one enjoys reading nasty comments about themselves, and this is certainly not something that Clarke needed to see, so it’s no wonder she’s given up Googling herself (although we’re sure there are plenty of amazing comments about her online).
Clarke’s a very talented actress, but a lot of emphasis has been placed on her looks and it’s unsurprising that she worries about being typecast. In fact, during her interview with the magazine, she admitted that she’s concerned about appearing nude on-screen too often, which is actually why she turned down the role of Anastasia Steele in the blockbuster Fifty Shades of Grey.

“I really wanted to work with [Fifty Shades of Grey director] Sam Taylor-Johnson because she’s f***ing amazing,” Clarke confessed. “But there is a huge amount of nudity in the film. I’ll never say, ‘I’m never doing nudity,’ because I’ve already done it, but I thought I might get stuck in a pigeonhole that I would have struggled to get out of.”
