The Bachelor‘s Chris Soules and fiancée Whitney Bischoff seemed so happy together, but after weeks of being plagued by breakup rumors, the rumors have finally come true.
After a whirlwind relationship, Soules and Bischoff have decided to call it quits, and in a joint statement to Us Weekly, the former couple announced their decision.
“Whitney Bischoff and Chris Soules have mutually and amicably decided to end their engagement,” the statement reads. “They part with nothing but respect and admiration for one another and will continue to be supportive friends. They wish to thank everyone who has supported them through this journey.”

The franchise’s creator Mike Fleiss was the first to break the news, after he tweeted about having sad news to report.
The news comes just two months after The Bachelor finale aired, and while there is no official word yet as to why the couple decided to call it quits, it has come as quite a surprise to many fans. And it’s got us wondering what could possibly have gone so wrong in such a short amount of time.

Fans thought that the pair might have been on rocky ground because Soules was so busy performing on Dancing with the Stars Season 20, and possibly neglecting his fiancée. But once the show wrapped up, the pair spent some quality time together on Soules’ farm in Iowa, which at the time squashed any rumors that there was trouble in paradise.
The news is even more shocking because Soules shared an adorable picture of himself and Bischoff just one week ago, in which he expressed his love for her.
As for Bischoff, she’s been relatively quiet on social media in recent weeks and has not shared any loved-up shots like Soules has, which has made fans wonder if she maybe initiated the breakup.
Bischoff has taken to Instagram recently, though, to post a cryptic message about being classy, which has fans wondering if perhaps Chris did something wrong, with comments on the picture ranging from, “Good for you Whitney. He was only interested in fame,” to “Chris was enjoying women situation to much.. He has so much money he had business doing the DWTS SHOW! you want a women who is into the fast lane, than you will be alone the rest of your life! Whitney has class, she is a real women.” [sic]
