The ongoing court battle over the legality of polygamy in Utah continues, and one of the Sister Wives stars seems to have her own opinion on it — one different from what you’d expect.
A federal judge decriminalized polygamy in Utah after reality stars Kody Brown and his wives brought suit, but now the state is appealing that decision, saying that polygamy undermines the institution of marriage, encourages financial fraud and exposes women and children to abuse.
“The State of Utah has through its Legislature determined that barring bigamy serves Utah’s best interests,” Utah federal solicitor Parker Douglas wrote in a filing with the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

“Utah additionally has an interest in prohibiting polygamy in order to avoid marriage fraud as well as to prevent the exploitation of government benefits for people with a marital status,” he later added. “The Statute also assists the State’s interests in protecting women and children from crimes such as statutory rape, sexual assault, and failure to pay child support.”
One of Kody’s wives, Meri Brown, sounds like she herself may be over sharing her man. She agreed to a divorce last year so that Kody could legally marry Robyn and adopt her children from a previous relationship, and she hasn’t sounded very enthusiastic about her own coupling since then.
The sixth season of Sister Wives is expected to air this fall.
