Snoop Dogg degrades Caitlyn Jenner’s journey with one rude pic (PHOTO)

Tensions and opinions have been high and plentiful lately surrounding the reveal and public debut of Caitlyn Jenner.

This is, after all, a new experience for a lot people. It’s an exciting time, and we are expanding people’s minds here. But change makes people uncomfortable and sometimes people say mean things. The response to Jenner’s transition and reveal has, for the most part in the mass media, been positive, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t pockets of negativity, and now in the wake of ESPN’s revelation that Jenner will be receiving the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at this year’s ESPYs.

It seems Snoop Dogg is none too happy about all the media coverage of Jenner’s transition, and he took to Instagram to air what he thought was more worthy news. He wrote, “Shout out to Akon! He is about to supply 600 million africans with solar power. Im really upset that this isn’t major news but that science project bruce jenner is #Society.”

Now, let’s take a second to unpackage this sentence and people’s responses to it.

First of all, huge congrats to Akon for doing something amazing, and I completely agree with Snoop that something so wonderful should be getting some news coverage. But… even if you don’t care, don’t agree with, don’t like, or are just sick of hearing about Caitlyn Jenner, that does not mean you have to use such offensive and loaded language. To call a transgender person a science project is unbelievably disrespectful and uncalled for.

And many people have been quick to point out that just because Jenner is being called a hero and brave that does not diminish or lessen the bravery or heroism of others. And most of all, can we just agree to not say terrible things like that about other people?
