There’s a new view on The View.

Cohost Whoopi Goldberg made the announcement on Wednesday morning’s show that former Disney star Raven-Symoné will be The View‘s next cohost, filling the spot left vacant by Rosie O’Donnell when she abruptly left amid a messy divorce several months ago.

Raven was a front-runner for the job, at least as far as fans were concerned. And even though rumors have been circulating for some time now that she would be filling the empty seat at the table, Raven told E! News after the live announcement that it came as a total surprise.

“I learned two seconds before that I didn’t get to come out first like I normally did so right then, I was a little flustered and then I came out and they had my song on and then I broke it down like it was hot, but then I had this really short skirt on,” she joked. “So I was hoping that my grandma and my mom wouldn’t have to call and say ‘close your legs, girl.'”

Raven is already no stranger to sharing her (sometimes controversial) opinions on everything from racism to rape allegations against Bill Cosby. Before she starts her stint on The View, there’s one thing she wants viewers to know.

“I definitely have a different lifestyle than a lot of people in this world — good and bad — and my views are different than one might think my views might be because I’ve never really spoken my truth until recently,” she said. “Hopefully I can shed some light on what I like to call the truth.”

She continued, “Some people might not agree with me and some people will but we know how to talk to each other in a respectful way so that everybody gets their point across and there’s no cutthroat conversation.”
