Caitlyn Jenner has been breaking all sorts of barriers lately. Currently, she’s one of, if not the most famous transgender women in the world; she gained about 2 million Twitter followers within hours of joining the social media site; and she’s taking home a serious paycheck for her upcoming reality show I Am Cait. And she’s worth every penny.
When the world learned that Caitlyn Jenner was going to be starring in her own reality series on E! (separate from that other reality series she’s a part of), it was a no-brainer that the show would be ratings gold. Everyone is fascinated with Jenner’s new life and is eager to get a glimpse inside of it — and clearly, E! is well aware of this, as the network is paying Jenner $5 million for her new show. That’s a crazy amount of money.

According to sources, E! didn’t offer Jenner that kind of money up front. They came at her with a $2 million contract for the show. But when Caitlyn’s agent began talking with other networks that were interested in doing a show with her, E! came back with a $5 million offer. And you know what? She’s worth it.

To put things in perspective, it was recently revealed what each of the Kardashian-Jenner members are making for a four-year contract for Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Their paychecks vary pretty widely, but at the top of the tier is Kim, who will be getting $30 million, and at the bottom is Scott Disick, who will be getting $8 million. Now, I love me some Scott Disick, but if the Lord can earn $2 million a year for yukking it up with Khloé in a few random scenes, Caitlyn certainly is worth $5 million.

Here’s the thing: In addition to Caitlyn’s new show being fascinating because of who she is and her family, her show will do something good. It will help people; it will hopefully show those with gender identity issues that they’re not alone and that they don’t have to suffer in silence. Keeping Up with the Kardashians and all of their spin-offs are weirdly alluring, but for completely different (completely vapid) reasons — and most of the “cast” is getting paid more than Caitlyn.
In no way did Jenner undergo all of her surgeries, etc., to get richer than she already is. But, at the end of the day, there’s no better reason for a member of the Kardashian-Jenner crew to rake in the big bucks. Good for her.
