The Clutha Trust auction will take place in the next few weeks and give music fans the chance to get their hands on signed merchandise from artists like Blur, Muse, Take That and The Manic Street Preachers.
Following The Clutha bar tragedy in November 2013, when a police helicopter crashed into the popular Glasgow pub killing 10 people and injuring several others, the Clutha Trust was set up to raise money for disadvantaged young people.
The upcoming auction is backed by many famous musicians and will fund music projects and hopefully a mobile educational unit, which will be built within a customised double decker bus designed by the youngsters themselves.
After playing a gig at the Barrowlands on Tuesday the members of Blur signed a Fender Telecaster guitar for the auction, reported STV.
“Blur had already approached us about signing the guitar before they came to Glasgow,” said Clutha Trust event planner Dutch Rukowski. “It’s now become common for bands to come to the city and sign a guitar for the Clutha Trust which is very encouraging. The band all wrote their signatures on the guitar and later came back to doodle the likes of a 8-ball and peace signs on it some more for a personal touch.”

Signed guitars have also been donated by Idlewild, Status Quo, Kodaline, Catfish and the Bottlemen and Madness. Noel Gallagher’s Epiphone Casino guitar raised £4,000 in a previous auction.
It’s not only music memorabilia that will be up for grabs — a range of kilts, bunnets and scarves in a commissioned Clutha Trust tartan is also in the pipeline, which will be available to buy in The Clutha bar when it reopens again later this year.
