Jessica Lange isn’t finished with American Horror Story after all

Jessica Lange hasn’t missed a season of American Horror Story yet. Is she really going to sit out Season 5?

Absence really does make the heart grow fonder. After four seasons of playing deliciously complicated women in Ryan Murphy‘s American Horror Story franchise, Jessica Lange announced American Horror Story: Freak Show was going to be her swan song. Now FX is gearing up for American Horror Story: Hotel, and Lange appears to have had a change of heart.

Don’t get too excited just yet. Lange has not been confirmed for AHS: Hotel, and even if she does show up, her role would not be as central as it has been in the past. Rather than continue to play the grand dames she has in past seasons, any future involvement from Lange would be more likely to come in the form of a one- or two-episode guest stint. Given how essential Lange has been to the AHS formula from the start, even a small dose of her mesmerizing talent would be welcome.

Lange told The Wrap, “If Ryan came to me and said, ‘Would you want to do a small character for a couple episodes?’ I would absolutely say yes if I liked it. This was a great collaboration, so I would love to keep working with him.”

Since Murphy and Lange have already teamed up for Broadway’s Long Day’s Journey Into Night, now would be the perfect time for him to extend an invite. Wouldn’t it be amazing to see Lange check in to the hotel, even if it was only for an episode?
