Holly Madison‘s tell-all book about life in the Playboy Mansion is making quite the splash.
The former Playboy Playmate has painted life as a bunny in a totally different light from the glamorous life it seems like from the outside. She chronicles her life behind “that infamous metal gate” as a nightmare.
And Hugh Hefner has been silent on the topic. Until now.
In an official statement released to Peoplemagazine, Hefner said, “Over the course of my life I’ve had more than my fair share of romantic relationships with wonderful women. Many moved on to live happy, healthy and productive lives and I’m pleased to say remain dear friends today.”

But then he hits Madison hard, saying she’s not much better than a famemonger. He continued, “Sadly, there are a few who have chosen to rewrite history in an attempt to stay in the spotlight.”
Ouch.
He concluded his statement by saying, “I guess, as the old saying goes: You can’t win ’em all.”

As for who is telling the truth? I could see there being a little truth and a little bit of tall tale on both sides. I personally couldn’t see living at the Playboy Mansion being anything but a nightmare for me, but for a lot of people who choose to live that life, I could also see them doing or saying a lot of things to stay relevant if they believed they were falling out of the spotlight, as Hef says.

Update, June 23: Hugh Hefner may not have anything good to say about Holly Madison’s new book, but that’s OK, because the former Playboy playmate really does not care what he thinks.
Speaking during an interview with Yahoo Beauty, Madison said, “The book isn’t designed to get a response. It’s not about having an ax to grind or wanting a response from Hef. I honestly don’t care what he thinks. He’s always had a chance to tell his side of the story through the TV show, which he controlled, or the articles about us in his magazines. We were always used as accessories to glamorize his life; that was basically what our job was, living there as girlfriends. I feel like it’s only fair for me to finally get to tell the truth and have my say.”
