Mark this down in the category of WTF moments in Hollywood.
Recently, Rose McGowan tweeted out the offensive and sexist casting notes included in a script she was given an audition for. The auditioning actresses were told to wear “black (or dark) form fitting tank that shows off cleavage (push-up bra encouraged). And form fitting leggings or jeans. Nothing white.”
McGowan later revealed that the lead male was none other than the king of dirty T-shirts and baggy sweatpants but still always manages to be married to a supermodel in his films, Adam Sandler.

Well, in a twist only Hollywood could provide, McGowan just tweeted that she got fired for her criticism of the casting notes. She said, “I just got fired by my wussy acting agent because I spoke up about the bullshit in Hollywood. Hahaha #douchebags #awesome #BRINGIT.”

I just want to say, #besthashtagsever
She wasn’t done speaking her mind either. A short time after, she tweeted, “The awesome thing about being an artist? You can’t be fired from your own mind. #FREEDOM.”

We don’t know if Sandler himself is behind the casting notes, but that doesn’t erase the egregious double standard that exists for women in Hollywood.
McGowan had been represented by Sheila Wenzel and Steve Muller at Innovative Artists, a slightly ironic name now given these proceedings. As for McGowan’s future, I don’t think she’ll have any issues landing future roles. At 41, she’s still got a long career in Hollywood ahead of her, right? It’s not like on top of rampant sexism, Tinseltown has an ageism problem, too.
