Nicki Minaj, who’s never been shy about how much she loves and appreciates her mom, gave a huge shout-out to the woman who raised her at Sunday’s BET Awards.

The rapper has thanked her mom in plenty of acceptance speeches, but this time, Carol joined her onstage as she accepted the award for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, beating out big names like Iggy Azalea, Azealia Banks and others.

“I always talk about my mommy and this is the first time the world is going to see her,” Minaj said as she introduced her mom, who is a stunning lookalike to Minaj.

“I love you so much,” she added. Cue the “awws.”

This is the first time Carol has joined Nicki onstage at an award show like this, but the world was previously introduced to Carol when she did an interview with Essence magazine to talk about being such a strong influence for Nicki, an award-winning artist.

“I always tell my children to persevere,” she told the magazine. “If they keep pressing toward what they want, it’s going to happen. A superstar needs to be in touch with their gifts. There’s a certain measure of humility that they must keep as they go forward.”

It just goes to show you can always trust Mom to have the best advice.
