If you’ve been watching The Real Housewives of New York City?, then you’re probably just as consumed by all the drama between the women (like Bethenny and Heather!) as I am. And the one character who seems the most level-headed? Kristen, hands down. So we had to ask her about the drama between her and Bethenny (what’s up with that?) and her thoughts on each of the women on the show.
SK: What’s it like watching all the drama with Bethenny this season? Do you have any ill feelings toward her?
Kristen Taekman: I have absolutely no ill feelings towards Bethenny. How could I? Both of us have not really had the opportunity to get to know each other that much. She is going through a lot right now, but I look forward to hopefully getting to know her when all the dust settles. Until then, I want to give her all the time and space she needs.

SK: There was a moment on the show when you felt boxed out, and everyone at one point feels that way around their group of friends. How are things now with the women?
KT: To be honest, I haven’t ever felt “boxed out.” I think that in every group of friends, there are closer friendships within that larger group. I think that half of the women are going through some rough times, whether that’s divorce, finance or other things. As far as divorce is concerned, I can imagine that I’m not the first one the women will go to for advice, since I have never experienced it — for which I am grateful.
SK: Who are you closest with in the group? Was it hard to really establish a bond with the women?
KT: I am the closest to Heather, Carole and LuAnn. The three of us hit it off immediately. While Heather and I have been friends for years, the bond was instant with the other women.
SK: What is your favorite quality about each woman on the show?
KT: Each of the other women have their own special qualities. Some are more loyal, others more sympathetic and all of them have the capacity to be great friends. The beauty [is that] real friendships have those ups and downs. Ours just happen to be televised.
SK: Everyone seems to be so hard on Sonja. Do you think everyone needs to back off, or is this something she needs?
KT: Sonja has been going through something for many years and the rest of us have tried and feel that at this point, it’s over our heads. Bethenny is just coming back… so she has a fresh look at the situation. I feel like if she wants to take that on, then go for it, girl! If anyone can get through to Sonja, I think that Bethenny is a good woman for the job.

SK: There’s a lot of drama in reality TV, but at the end of the day, what kind of image or message do you want to communicate to other women watching you?
KT: Friendships are important and have ups and downs, especially when you spend as much time together as we do. The reality of the situation is that we have difference[s] of opinion and tend to bicker and argue as a result. However, I do think that we learn from these arguments and grow stronger from them.
SK: Which woman really inspires you — not because of her career, but because of what she stands for?
KT: Heather inspires me every day. She is an outstanding mother and friend.
SK: What’s one misconception fans have about you?
KT: No misconceptions here! I think everyone 100 percent understands me, especially on Twitter!
