Staff at the struggling show leaked that executive producer Bill Wolff informed them all Tuesday that Rosie Perez, who has been a cohost only since last September, plans to end her tenure on the ABC talk show.

Our friend Rosie Perez has decided to leave the show at the conclusion of this season to pursue full time her love for acting,” read an email Wolff sent to the show’s staff, obtained by Entertainment Weekly. “Stepping into the role of talk show host at the same time she has been starring on Broadway has been incredibly impressive. And beyond being an enormously talented performer, Rosie is a dedicated advocate who has brought passion and insight to the panel every day. Rosie will always be a part of The View family, and we will welcome her back as a guest anytime to catch up. We’ll plan a proper send off for her in a few weeks, but in the meantime, please join me in thanking her for her great work on the show.”

Perez had already taken a long hiatus from the show when she was cast in a Broadway play. When ABC didn’t name her return date, it sparked rumors that she was planning to leave the show then, but instead, in February, cohost Rosie O’Donnell announced her departure just a few months after rejoining the panel following a years-long break.

O’Donnell was replaced just weeks ago by Raven-Symoné and now rumors say ABC plans to hire comedienne Michelle Collins to replace Perez. Collins, like Symoné, has been filling in on the panel amid the upheaval it’s experienced in the last few seasons.

Further rumors say ABC plans to have a rotating bench of cohosts to appear alongside the three full-timers who remain: Symoné, Whoopi Goldberg and Nicolle Wallace, who also only joined the show last September. Entertainment Weekly reports model Molly Sims and stylist Stacy London could be among the guest hosts.
