To the avid Real Housewives of New York fan, it appears that Ramona Singer is on a mission this season — a mission to find a man. On Tuesday’s episode, Singer all but elbowed Bethenny Frankel and Carole Radziwill out of the way in order to talk to a hunky bar owner in Turks and Caicos. And, as it turns out, there’s a reason for that! Singer wants to get remarried in the not-so-distant future.
Singer recently sat down with In Touch and dropped a mid- to moderate-sized bomb. She told the mag that, despite being blindsided by her cheating (former) husband of 22 years, Mario, she still wants to get married again. And kinda soon! “Two years from now, you’re going to see me married!” Singer said, adding, “I still believe in love. I was very fortunate. I was married for more than 20 years. Most marriages last 10. I’m on a new journey now, and I have no doubt I’ll find someone who will be a better fit for me today.”

Good for Ramona for not losing her sense of romance (or her confidence!). But can we discuss this “two years” business for a quick sec?
While it’s totally understandable why Ramona wants to meet someone new to share her life with, she might want to consider pumping the brakes on her whole two-year timeline. All that’s doing is putting unnecessary pressure on herself to “find a husband” in a set amount of time. Ramona should let things happen more organically. Having such a rigid picture of how the next few years of her life should unfold could stop them from unfolding how they’re supposed to. What if Ramona’s dream man doesn’t come into her life until three years from now? Or two years and one day? She could miss out on something truly great.

I’m being hyperbolic, of course. It’s doubtful that Ramona is giving herself exactly 730 days to find someone new. But it does sound like she’d like to be remarried within the next few years for sure. While again, that’s fine (do you, Mona), she also could be missing out on the enlightening opportunity of simply being alone.

Like she said, she had more than 20 good(ish) years of marriage with Mario, which is a lot more than most people can say. Why not use this time to rediscover herself? She may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but she’s certainly a strong woman (who kicks butt when it comes to her business). Ramona would be perfectly fine not being in a relationship for a bit. More than fine, in fact! She’s got her career, her daughter, her friends — all ingredients for a happy and fulfilled life.
But, as we all know, Ramona Singer is nothing if not persistent, so I don’t doubt for a second that she’s going to go full speed ahead with her two-year plan. For her sake, though, I hope she allows for some wiggle room with her little timeline. After all, everyone knows what happens to the best-laid plans.
