Jill Dillard (formerly Duggar) and her husband Derick may not be on their mission trip abroad after all.
Jessa Duggar reportedly broke the news on Instagram that the couple and their baby, Israel, had left the country in order to begin a mission trip, but now reports are saying it was all a clever ruse.

Jessa posted this photo four days ago, saying, “So excited for @jillmdillard & @derickdillard! They’ve been praying about and working towards this transition since late last year, and are so excited to finally be heading to the mission field! Please continue to pray for them! And be sure to check out their blog at www.dillardfamily.com ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.’ Mark 16:15”

But the photo she posted of their apparent “departure” is reportedly an old image, noticable because the couple is wearing the exact same outfits that they were pictured in weeks earlier during an ALIVE conference. Fans also pointed out that Derick’s hair is long in this photo, even though recent pictures show him sporting a shorter hairdo.

The family has also been secretive about exactly where they’re traveling. On the Dillard Family blog, Derick explained, “For security purposes, at this time, we’re not publicly discussing specific time and places of international service.”
Not that we blame the couple for wanting their privacy. After the Josh Duggar scandal that has rocked the family, it’s no wonder they want some time away from the spotlight and out of the country to focus on the things they are passionate about.

The Duggar family also shared an extended video clip of the clan saying goodbye to the couple on July 6, a day after they supposedly left the country.
