The Vampire Diaries‘ Kai is still meddling, even from beyond the grave, and it’s the best thing we’ve seen since the show’s season finale back in May.
Chris Wood (aka Season 6 villain Kai) returned in all his glory to plant a wet one on Ian Somerhalder, turning that iconic Delena rain moment into one that’s even more epic.

The six-minute video, which was first shown at Comic-Con before being released exclusively on Buzzfeed, highlights the most romantic and villainous moments in the shows history. Wood, as Kai, introduces each montage until he decides he’d love it if the mushy lovey-dovey moments could meld with the intense evil.
And with that sly grin of his, we launch into that crazy romantic Delena rain make out scene. But, instead of Elena (Nina Dobrev), Kai is the one smooching Damon this time and making him, “Promise me this is forever.”
Wood even pretends to have long locks and shakes them dramatically out in the rain, just like Elena does in the original clip.

Jokes aside, the cast did address how the show will continue now that Dobrev has exited.
“She’s just taking a little nap,” Somerhalder explained. “It’s just an evolution of the story.”
Paul Wesley echoed his co-stars statements, “When a show has been on for [six] years, you need a shift in dynamic. I think [Dobrev’s exit] created a new world, and it’s a fresh take on a show that’s been on for several seasons.”
Also taking the Comic-Con stage were series co-stars Candice Accola, Kat Graham and Michael Malarkey as well as show creator, Julie Plec.
