Supernatural fans showed their support for Jared Padalecki at Comic-Con in a way that was so meaningful, it left the actor “gob-smacked.”

Padalecki has been open about his struggle with depression, and he has worked hard to help others as well through the To Write Love on Her Arms organization. Which is why, during the Supernatural Comic-Con panel on July 12, audience members received tea light candles that read, “Always Keep Fighting.”
The audience of approximately 6,500 held up their candles at the start of the Q&A portion of the panel.

It was a moment that Padalecki said he will remember forever, and it stuck with him so emotionally that he took to Facebook to share his heartfelt reaction.
“As I travel back to Vancouver from San Diego Comic-Con, with my partners in crime Jensen Ackles and Mark Sheppard, the enormity of what happened is finally starting to sink in,” Padalecki said. “I am beyond moved. I feel so blessed, and grateful, and honored to be a part of the magical ‘Supernatural’ Family.”

He continued, “From the very bottom of my heart and my soul, thank you so much. I will never forget this day. I will never forget the love that I felt, and still feel. And, to everybody who held a light for me, please know that I hold my light for you. Though I happened to be the one sitting on stage, I am but one small light in a see [sic] of thousands. TOGETHER, we can and will make a difference! Keep letting your light shine. I will do the same.”
If that doesn’t tug on your heart strings enough as it is, you can read his full message below.
It was only just recently, back in March 2015, that Padalecki revealed the details of his struggle with depression.

“I, for a long time, have been passionate about people dealing with mental illness and struggling with depression, or addiction, or having suicidal thoughts,” the actor shared with Variety. “I, in the past, have had my own struggles of not [being] so happy with where I am in life, which is strange and I think it goes to show… Maybe a lot of people don’t know this, but season three [of Supernatural], we were shooting an episode, and I went back to my trailer to get changed and just kind of broke down.”
He added, “I say constantly that there’s no shame in dealing with these things. There’s no shame in having to fight every day, but fighting every day, and presumably, if you’re still alive to hear these words or read this interview, then you are winning your war. You’re here.”
