Amanda Seyfried is the latest star to dish details about gender inequality in Hollywood.

The Mean Girls star revealed in a new interview that she found out she was paid only 10 percent of what a male costar was paid for their roles in a blockbuster movie. She doesn’t say which movie it was, but she does say it changed her focus and made her much more cognizant of inequality in the film industry.

“A few years ago, on one of my big-budget films, I found I was being paid 10 percent of what my male costar was getting,” Seyfried said. “And we were pretty even in status.”

Since playing the infamous Karen on Mean Girls, Seyfried has had a high-profile and varied career, starring in Mamma Mia!, Dear John, In Time, Les Misérables and, most recently, Ted 2. She mentioned in her interview that her wide-ranging career may have been a factor in her pay.

“I think people think that just because I’m easygoing and game to do things, I’ll just take as little as they offer,” she said. “It’s not about how much you get, it’s about how fair it is.”

Seyfried isn’t even the only Mean Girls actress to call out gender inequality in the film industry. Her costar Lizzy Caplan expressed a similar sentiment at a panel just a few months before Seyfried’s interview.

“I mean, [look at] wage inequality even in our business, which is supposed to be this progressive side of things,” Caplan said in May. “I mean, it’s insane and it really pisses me off. I could go on a really hardcore feminist rant right now, but I’m not going to do that.”
