Ben Higgins is the next Bachelor!
Although ABC never comments on casting news, E! Online has announced him as The Bachelor thanks to multiple sources who are confirming the news. Ben has yet to finalize his contract, but he’s “pretty much a lock.” That means there’s still a small chance things with Ben could fall through — but don’t bet on it.

ABC was reportedly also considering Kaitlyn’s second runner-up to potentially hand out the roses, but the network ultimately chose Ben because they thought he would be able to entice more viewers. And we’d have to agree. It was hard not to fall in love with the software salesman from Denver.
So… where can we audition?
Ben also makes sense as the next Bachelor given the show’s pattern of casting third runners-up: Kaitlyn Bristowe was Chris Soules’ third runner-up last season. Soules was the third runner-up during Andi Dorfman’s season. Dorfman was the third runner-up for Juan Pablo’s season.

We’re also just really glad ABC has given up on that whole two Bachelor/ettes idea that they introduced this season. It just started the whole thing off on the wrong foot and seemed to make things even more stressful for Kaitlyn throughout the season.
Kaitlyn eliminated Ben in an emotional episode of The Bachelorette last night. (This season has definitely been the most dramatic ever — use it, Chris Harrison!) There’s no doubt that Kaitlyn and Ben had a seriously romantic chemistry but, ultimately, Kaitlyn had a stronger connection with Shawn and Nick.

Don’t expect the official Bachelor announcement from ABC anytime before the current season of The Bachelorette is over, as is the usual pattern with the show. But we’re already getting excited for Ben. Those lucky girls!
