Kim Richards’ latest rehab decision could cost her her family — for good

Earlier this week, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kim Richards up and checked herself out of rehab (in the middle of the night!). Even though the reality TV star claims she’s “cured” of alcoholism, she promised to keep up with her outpatient treatment. Yeah, well, not so much….

Last weekend, Kim Richards took it upon herself to check out of the Malibu rehab facility, where she was being treated for alcoholism. Sources claimed that the TheReal Housewives of Beverly Hills star considers herself to be “cured” of the disease, so there was no need for her to stay.

It was reported, however, that Kim was planning on keeping up with her outpatient therapy. Now, though, it’s being reported that Kim has already missed four of her outpatient appointments. Well, that’s not a very good sign, now is it?

An insider told Radar Online, “Kim has not been back to the center and has not been doing her outpatient therapy. She has already missed four sessions. The rehab program directors are just assuming that Kim isn’t returning to treatment there, and no one is going to chase her down and try to force it on her.” Yikes.

What’s going to happen to Kim? Up and abruptly leaving rehab two months earlier than one intended to stay doesn’t sound like it’s going to have a happy ending.

The biggest concern for Kim right now is that her friends and family have just about had it with her and her refusal to get help. It’s a story many people who have dealt with loved ones with addiction issues know. But, there’s going to come a point — if that point hasn’t come already — when Kim’s family and friends will feel they’ve done all that they could for her. What will become of Kim then? What will become of someone struggling with addiction whose family has shut them out? (Nothing good, I’m guessing.)

At the end of the day, the only person who can help Kim is Kim, and right now, help just doesn’t seem like something she’s interested in. I’m sure there’s a big part of her that actually does think that she’s cured of her disease, but I really don’t think she’s fooling anyone — especially, her family.

It’s hard to imagine what Kim’s family and friends are going through right now. (Also, sidebar, anyone else wondering where Brandi Glanville is in all of this?) On the one hand, I’m sure they want nothing more than to see their beloved mother/sister/aunt/etc. to stick with her treatment and try to get better. But, on the other, how much longer can they do this? How many times can they sit there and try to persuade her to check herself into (and stay in) a rehab center?

Kim genuinely does seem like a good person, and I’m really, really rooting for her to get better. But, to be honest, right now, things aren’t looking so good. I mean, the woman has already missed four appointments, and she’s barely been out of rehab a week. Definitely not a good sign. Here’s to hoping I’m wrong, though. And here’s to hoping she doesn’t permanently damage every relationship in her life. Sigh.
