Caitlyn Jenner‘s public transition has been far from easy.

But one step in particular is proving to be a hang-up lately, despite enthusiastic help from her stepdaughters.
In a new clip for the E! reality series I Am Cait, Jenner is shown trying to perfect her “feminine voice.”
She’s already had surgery to feminize her physical features, and she’s a pro at makeup, manicures and chic fashion. But her deep voice is still proving to be an issue, the clip revealed.
In the video, Caitlyn is seen discussing her voice with stepdaughter Kim Kardashian West and family friend Malika Haqq. She tells them she would call room service at hotels before her transition and try out her “best feminine voice” to see if she could get them to say “yes, ma’am.”
Kardashian encourages Jenner to try it out — “Order bacon and eggs and orange juice and toast,” she says after holding her cell phone to her ear and saying, “This is room service. Can I help you?”

Jenner makes her best effort, but falls short, according to a laughing Kardashian, who jokingly calls her “sir.”
“You sound no different!” Kardashian exclaims.
Jenner replies, “See? That’s the problem.”
Later in the clip, Jenner gets candid about her struggle with her still-masculine voice.
“Women cannot relate to the whole voice thing,” she admits. “They don’t see it as being that important when it is that important, not only for you just to speak and order and do all that kind of stuff, but very important for your soul that you’re feeling good about that.”
Fans’ reactions to the attempt were mixed, but most were in support of Jenner.
