Gwyneth Paltrow has definitely had some foot-in-mouth moments, but her most recent speech to Congress is getting some unnecessary hate.
Paltrow rallied with other advocates on Capitol Hill in an attempt to lobby for the mandatory labeling of genetically modified foods.

The idea is good in theory, right?
We all want to know what’s in our food and what we’re actually putting into our bodies. The problem is that making this labeling process mandatory will increase food costs, a burden local farmers and lower-income families can’t take. And since GMO products are usually the cheaper ones, families in need are the ones who will be affected by the increased food costs.
Paltrow has been repeatedly called an “out of touch” celebrity. But she is trying to effect change and do good.
“I’m not here as an expert,” Paltrow said. “I’m here as a mother, an American mother, that honestly believes I have the right to know what’s in the food I feed my family.”

Still, the Internet was having none of it. Comments ranged from saying Paltrow was out of touch with the reality of what this act would mean for farmers and lower-income families to arguing that there are way more important issues she could be focusing on. However, isn’t it her right to fight for the things that are important to her family? I’m guessing the people who stand against her are more vocal than those who stand with her.

Even Claire Parker, the spokesperson for the Coalition for Safe Affordable Food, bashed Paltrow for her speech.
