Jennifer Aniston’s wedding was missing one major family member

Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux might have been blinded by the light of newly wedded bliss, so the Friends star might not have noticed the gaping hole in the A-list attendees at her recent wedding.

Jen and Justin’s Thursday wedding was a who’s who of Hollywood elite, but Radar Online has confirmed that a major member of Aniston’s family was not in attendance.

Aniston’s mother confirmed with the website that she missed watching her daughter walk down the aisle.

Nancy Dow Aniston skipped her daughter’s wedding, but that doesn’t mean she wasn’t happy for the couple to be getting married. She told Radar, “I think it’s wonderful. Anything I say about Jennifer is super supportive.”

I don’t know about you, but that sure seems like a strange way to say, “Congrats and best wishes.” The mother and daughter have not always had the best of familial relationships. The elder Aniston, in 1999, published a scathing tell-all, From Mother and Daughter to Friends: A Memoir. What a loaded title.

Dow, a former actress herself, has been in failing health over the last few years and is well on in years at 78. Their relationship has been rocky and estranged over the last several years as Dow has been in various states of recovery from illnesses and injuries. A source told Radar that Aniston’s mother’s last and greatest hope was to see her daughter become a mother herself.

Why did she miss the wedding? And why all the animosity? It seems the bad blood may stem from the mother’s treatment of her superstar daughter. Jen was once quoted as saying, “Nancy was very critical of me. Because she was a model, she was gorgeous, stunning. I wasn’t. I never was.”

Jennifer also said her mother was very forgiving and the pair has reportedly reconciled, but it raises the question: What could have kept her from her long-awaited and oft-rumored daughter’s high-profile wedding?
