Meghan Edmonds may be on RHOC for all the wrong reasons

New Real Housewives of Orange County star Meghan King Edmonds hasn’t exactly been hitting it off with the rest of the cast, and with new reports claiming that she’s on a mission to be famous — at the expense of her family — she might not be a fan favorite either.

Like many men and women who are married to famous or high-profile people, Meghan King Edmonds doesn’t appear to spend a heck of a lot of time with her baseball legend husband Jim Edmonds. Of course, who knows what goes on behind closed doors, but on RHOC, Jim and Meghan are like two ships passing in the night. She seems to spend a lot of time in California, while Jim is in St. Louis with his job as a broadcaster for Fox Sports Midwest. When St. Louis-bred Meghan was asked why she spent so much time in California when her husband is in Missouri, she said that she wanted to help her high school-age stepdaughter Hayley while her mother was sick (Hayley’s mom has since passed). But now we’re hearing a different story. According to a source, Edmonds is determined to be a star.

An insider told Radar Online, “She has always wanted to be famous. She knew if she moved, she could get a spot on the show.” The source also added that there were plenty of family members willing to step up to the plate, so to speak, to help out with Hayley. “Meghan likes to be in the spotlight,” the insider added.

While Edmonds certainly shouldn’t be chastised for wanting to help out with her stepdaughter, let’s be honest here: It is slightly weird that after only a few months of marriage, she would be willing to up and move so far away from her husband. Edmonds definitely deserves credit for her stepmom role, but let’s all hope that that was the sole reason she decided to move to Orange County. Moving there for fame — and claiming it’s for a much nobler reason — would be pretty upsetting (especially to Hayley), and no doubt would ruin her relationship with both her husband and her stepkids.

Most of the comments on the Radar article tend to agree that Edmonds’ story seems a little odd. Here are some opinions:

Like I said, she might not be a fan favorite.

If Edmonds’ motives for moving to California were anything but pure, everyone — her family, viewers of Real Housewives — will certainly find out sooner or later. People aren’t stupid, and typically, it’s only a matter of time before the truth is revealed. Again, though, let’s give Edmonds the benefit of the doubt here, because using your stepdaughter’s family situation as an excuse would be a truly disturbing thing. And I don’t think it’s something her husband would particularly enjoy.

I’m rooting for you, Meghan; really, I am. I’m hoping that somehow, some way, it comes out that you have no interest in fame at all, even though you happen to make good TV. Please. Prove to us all that you really are the #coolstepmom you claim to be.

Do you think Meghan King Edmonds is out to be famous?
