Stephen Colbert is making one huge change to The Late Show as its new host, and it might be the most significant declaration since the show started.

In a new essay published in Glamour, Colbert promised that he knows all about the “manstituionalized manvantages built into Americman manciety,” and that he doesn’t plan to make them any worse because he doesn’t want to be a “manhole.”
He also recognized the very prominent lack of any women’s voices in the late-night television world and was sure to say that it’s an egregious error. Almost as bad as the fact that Mad Max: Fury Road wasn’t called Furiosa: Fury Road — a nod to Charlize Theron’s character in the film, who totally kicked ass and made, arguably, a more significant impact on the plot than Mad Max himself.
But how do you make all of these disses against women better? I mean, Colbert isn’t going to step down from his new Late Show hosting gig just to demand that a woman is hired. Nor do we expect him to. So what’s the solution?

Well, Colbert has a perfect one.
He writes that he plans on dedicating The Late Show to the celebration of women.
“I’m here for you,” Colbert declares. “I’m going to do my best to create a Late Show that not only appeals to women but also celebrates their voices.”
We would, of course, be skeptical about Colbert’s promises if it weren’t for all he’s done to prove himself in the past. This is a guy who doesn’t mess around when it comes to the ladies.

“These days, TV would have you believe that being a woman means sensually eating yogurt, looking for ways to feel confident on heavy days and hunting for houses. But I’m going to make a show that truly respects women, because I know that there’s more than one way to be one.”
