Stephen Colbert’s premiere week lineup is so strange – and super Republican

Stephen Colbert‘s Late Show premiere is less than a month away and his first week’s lineup is already here. We’ve seen the names and we can’t even handle the awesome and the strange.

In case you’ve been wondering what country singer and professional Dixie Chicks disser Toby Keith is doing lately, it turns out you’ll get your answer soon enough. The restaurateur and outspoken Republican will perform during Colbert’s Late Show premiere week. He’s not the only conservative in the mix, either. Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush will also make an appearance. He’ll actually be on Colbert’s very first night as host.

Don’t let Bush and Keith discourage you from tuning in, however. There are plenty of less controversial guests in the lineup, too. Funny girl Amy Schumer is set to appear on his Friday episode and will, no doubt, balance out the eeriness Friday’s other guest, Stephen King, will bring. Perhaps Colbert’s coolest guest, though, is Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors and SpaceX. Hopefully, he’ll be unveiling an even more affordable and earth-friendly Tesla for the masses.

The entire premiere week’s lineup is as follow:

Tuesday, Sept. 8: George Clooney, Jeb Bush and musical guest Jon Batiste and Stay Human (and special guests).

Wednesday, Sept. 9: Scarlett Johansson, SpaceX and Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk plus interview and musical performance by Kendrick Lamar.

Thursday, Sept. 10: Uber CEO Travis Kalanick and musical guest Toby Keith.

Friday, Sept. 11: Amy Schumer, Stephen King and interview and musical performance by Troubled Waters.

It’s an interesting mix of people. Something tells us these first guests are in for a wild ride on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The fun begins on Sept. 8 at 11:30/10:30c.
