Sarah Silverman writes amazing tribute to her late mother (PHOTO)

Sarah Silverman is about to make you cry.

And immediately go hug or call your mother.

The School of Rock actress honored her mother’s memory on Monday with a tweet about her beautiful mom. Beth Ann O’Hara, Silverman’s mother, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 19, at the age of 73.

She wrote, “She was a know-it-all in overalls & two different colored socks. And defiantly, no bra.”

She mentioned how her mother helped her become confident and to do things on her own. She recalled, “The woman who, when I was little, gave me detailed directions to the restaurant ladies room then secretly watched as I found my way to it on my own.”

It seems that independence training stayed with her as she grew into not only one of the greatest comedians of our time, but a strong feminist and social activist, too. She wasn’t done honoring her mother’s memory and legacy. She finished by recounting a few of her favorite stories and parts of her mother’s life. She continued, “The woman who went back to college at 42, and skinny dipped in ponds…”

But she saved the absolute best for last when she shared her mother’s words of wisdom on love with us, saying, “… and [she] told me never to protect myself from a broken heart because it was so very worth the pain to get to experience love.”

Silverman is the youngest of five siblings and her mother sounds exactly like the type of woman I hope to become and strive to be as I continue to grow as well as raise my own child.

Condolences to the Silverman family on the loss of a beautiful woman.
