The comedian’s 18-year-old adopted daughter, who was recently reported missing and found, has left the home again, this time to live with her birth mother in Wisconsin, Us Weekly reports.
“Chelsea made a decision when she turned 18 that she wanted to go to her birth mother,” a rep for O’Donnell reportedly told the site. “This was her choice.”
Chelsea turned 18 earlier this week, according to TMZ.
Earlier this month, O’Donnell sent out a panicked message on Twitter and her website, letting people know that Chelsea had been missing for nearly a week. Police later found the teen and her dog Bear in Barnegat Light, a small town in New Jersey, at the home of Steven M. Sheerer, who Chelsea reportedly met on Tinder. Sheerer was later charged with endangering the welfare of a child and distribution of obscenity for nude photos he sent to Chelsea. Us Weekly reports Sheerer’s attorney is likely to make the argument that he thought Chelsea was over 18 when the photos were sent and when she went to stay at his home. If convicted, he could face more than five years in jail.
O’Donnell has stayed mostly quiet amid the latest revelation, but did post to her blog on Wednesday the lyrics to the Pink song “The Great Escape” in what might have been a nod to the situation with Chelsea.
“Everyone you know, is tryna smooth it over,” it reads. “Find a way to make the hurt go away, Everyone you know, is tryna smooth it over, Everyone needs a floor they can fall through, But I won’t let you make the great escape, I’m never gonna watch you checking out of this place, I’m not gonna lose you, ‘Cause the passion and pain, Are gonna keep you alive someday, They’re gonna keep you alive someday.”
