According to the New York Daily News, a recent negotiation for a sit-down interview with People magazine turned awkward when the Duggars refused to talk about anything concerning Josh Duggar, specifically the news of his Ashley Madison accounts and his affairs confession.

People apparently wanted to do a story about where the Duggars are headed post-scandal, and their lives currently as they try to recover from the 19 Kids and Counting cancellation and all the media heat the family has received these past few months.

“They did not want to discuss the scandal, only the future of the family,” a New York Daily News source reported. “They wanted to avoid it altogether, which is completely ridiculous. How can they do a cover story and not address the issue at hand?”

People, who has had a long relationship with the Duggar family, eventually played hardball, according to the source. “The Duggars said we would love to, however we will not address Josh’s trouble. People tried to negotiate and eventually played hardball, saying we’re doing the cover with or without you.”

The Daily Mail reports that it was specifically Jessa and Jill who wanted nothing to do with their brother’s trouble. “Jessa has been trying to maintain a public profile via social media, and has posted regular updates of her burgeoning baby bump. She and Ben even devised a poll and asked people to vote on whether they think the couple will welcome a boy, a girl or even twins.”
